Tell Lawmakers to Vote NO on SB2990

Senate Bill 2990 reduces protections for pets instead of strengthening them.

If Illinois truly wants to improve animal welfare, we should be raising standards and holding bad actors accountable. But SB2990 simply shuts down licensed and inspected small pet businesses without replacing them with something better.

Under SB2990, families who want to add a dog will search online, scroll through social media, and respond to listings that may or may not be legitimate. In many of those cases, there is no clear paper trail, no consistent health documentation, and no real recourse if something goes wrong.

Scammers and puppy mills will benefit, and families and dogs will lose. That is not progress.

We can protect dogs and consumers at the same time. But that means strengthening standards, improving enforcement, and closing loopholes. It does not mean removing regulated businesses and hoping for the best.

Tell your legislators to vote NO on SB2990 and work toward solutions that actually improve animal welfare in Illinois.
